Family history

James Edward Harris was born on 12th April 1878 he was baptised on 2nd June 1878 at St Ann's, Nottingham, he was the son of Henry John Harris a lace manufacturer and Mary Ann Harris née Battersby of 3 Sanderson Street, Nottingham.

His father Henry John was born in 1849 at Cork Ireland, His mother Mary Ann Battersby was born in 1849 at Nottingham, they were married in 1867 at Nottingham they had 5 children.

He was the husband of Ada Kate W Knight they were married in 1903 at Nottingham. and the father of Walter born 1904 , Irene born 1910 and Clifford Harris born 1913.

In the 1911 census they lived at 49 Manor Street Nottingham James Edward Harris 30 yrs is a hairdresser he is living with his wife Ada 30 yrs and their children, Walter 7 yrs and Irene 1 year old

Military history

Private James Edward Harris enlisted at Skegness whilst residing at Newark, he was posted to the 6th battalion Lincolnshire Regement , he was part of the mediterraenan expeditionary force and died on 11th October 1915 of dysentry, he is buried at Pieta Military Cemetry, Malta.
