James Goodband (junior) was born in 1884 at Nottingham, he was the son of James Goodband (senior) a labourer and Eliza Goodband née Jarvis of 8 Newark Street Nottingham.

His father James Goodband (senior) was born in 1864 at Nottingham, his mother Eliza Jarvis was born in 1864 also at Nottingham, they were married on 30th June 1883 at Notttingham, they had two further children, Selina born 1886 and George born 1888.

They lived at 2 Thoresby Place, Thoresby Street, Nottingham.

The family lived at 8 newark Street, Nottingham

Military history

Prvate James Goodband enlisted at Nottingham on23rd September 1901 giving his age as 18 yrs and 10 months, he was a labourer posted to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was embodied on 5th Augut 1914, he died of heart failure on 2th August 1914 at Plymouth, his name is commemorated on the Plymouth (Weston Mill) Cemetery
