Family history

Francis Farrell was born in 1886 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Timothy Farrell a cordwainer and the late Jane Farrell nee Meakin.

His father was Timothy was born in 1835 at Cork Ireland his mother Jane Meakin was born in 1839 at Nottingham, she died in 1900 aged 61 yrs they were married and had a further son John Timoty born 1876 at Nottingham.

Francis was the husband of the widow Maria Howarth née Kerry they were married on 16th May 1903 at St Ann's, Nottingham.

In 1911 they lived with Maria's father William Kerry 58 yrs a fish dealer at 3 Tenfeel Street Sneinton Road, Nottingham and she later lived at 42 Beauchamp Street Carlton Road (both Nottingham).Francis Farrell son in law 34 yrs is also a fish dealer,

Military history

Private Francis Farrell enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service no 7221 in the East Yorkshre regiment, he later transferred to the 2nd battalion South Wales Borderers and was killed in action on 3rd August 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium.
