Family history

Mark Bush was born in 1887 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 27th March 1887 at St Albans Church, Sneinton, he was the son of the late Mark a frame work knitter and Lucy Bush née Cooke of Manvers Street Nottingham.

His father Mark was born in 1859 at Nottingham, he died in 1899 at Nottingham, he was 40 yrs of age, his mother Lucy was born in 1861 at Nottingham, they were married on 7th October 1880 at St Matthias Church, Sneinton they had 9 children.

In the 1911 census his widowed mother Lucy 49 yrs a hair dresser is living at 63 Manvers Street, with three of her children,Harold, 19 yrs a hair dresser, Lucy 16 yrs a cigar maker and Eliza 14 yrs

He was the husband of Mavinia Alice Beech born 18th July 1884 they were married on 26th December 1907 at St Albans Church, Sneinton. they livd at 22 Lowdham Street, Nottingham, they had a son Frank born 14th June 1911.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 24 Lichfield Road Nottingham, Mark 24 yrs is a lace maker, he is living with his wife Mavinia Alice and later 22 Lowdham Street, Nottingham

Commencing 3rd January 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military history

Private Mark Bush enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/6th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 26th September 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
