William Bradshaw was born in 1895 in Arnold and was the son of John William a market gardener and Annie Bradshaw née Ford of 11 Harcourt Villas Porchester Road Nottingham His father John William was born in 1867 in Arnold and his mother Annie Ford was born in 1870 in Plymouth. They were married in 1889 , their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have 9 children, sadly two of whom died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Florrrie b1893 Nottingham, William b1896 Nottingham, Mabel b1897 Arnold, Walter b1899 Arnold, Harold b1901 Arnold, Leslie b1906 Mapperley and John Bradshaw b1908 Mapperely In the 1911 census the family are shown living at 2 Harcourt Villa, Porchester Road, Nottingham and are shown as William 44 yrs a market gardener, he is living with his wife Annie 41 yrs and their children Florrie 18 yrs a maker up, William 15 yrs a collier, Mable 14 yrs an errand girl Walter 12 yrs a scholar, Leslie 5 yrs and John 3 yrs. The caption to his photograph published in the local paper at the time of his death shows him as Dan Bradshaw of 54 Marple Street, Nottingham.

Military History

Private William Bradshaw enlisted at Nottingham giving his place of birth as Arnold. He served with the 9th battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France on 9th September 1915 and died of wounds on 11th June 1917. He was buried in St Leger British Cemetery,Pas De Calais, France grave refer F 11
