Family History

Horace Heath was born in 1884 at Nottingham and was the son of the late John Robert Heath a tailor and Mary Ann Heath née Goulder of 5 Ireton Cottages Ireton Street Radford Nottingham. His father John Robert was born in 1858 at Chesterfield and died in 1919 aged 61 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Goulder was born in 1860 at Nottingham, they were married in 1881 at Nottingham and had the following children, Horace b1884, Mabel b1886, Nellie b1889, Beatrice Polly b1891 and Winifred b1902 all were born in Radford. Horace married Alice Getrude Pare (born 29th July 1886) in 1910 at Nottingham they lived at 26 Sherwin Road, Nottingham, they had the following children John William born 29th May 1911 and Dorothy Irene born 15th November 1913. In 1911 they lived at 31 Wellington Street, Nottingham and are shown as Horace 27 yrs a carter, he is living with his wife Gertrude 24 yrs. Following his death his widow Alice was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week which commenced on 2nd December 1918. In the same 1911 census his parents are living at 21 Huntingdon Street, Nottingham and are shown as John Robert 52 yrs a tailor, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 50 yrs and their children Nellie 22 yrs a box maker, Beatrice Polly 19 yrs a machinist, Florence 16 yrs a pinafore finisher and Winifred 8 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Rifleman Horace Heath enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number (S4/044631) in the Army Service Corps. He was killed in action on 24th March 1918 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial
