Frank Turner was born in 1893 in Nottingham and was the son of Ernest a beer house keeper and Eliza Hannah Turner née Mason they lived at 11 Deligne Street Grafton Street Radford Nottingham. His father Ernest was born in 1871 at Nottingham, his mother Eliza Hannah Mason was born in 1868 at Langley Mill they were married in 1891 at Nottingham, they had a further son Ernest born in 1892. In the 1911 census the family are living at 6 Wilfred Street, Nottingham, they are shown as Ernest Turner 40 yrs a beer house keeper he is living with his wife Eliza 43 yrs and their sons Ernest 19 yrs a drapers assistant and Frank 17 yrs an electrician
Sapper Frank Turner attested on 16th August 1916 at Nottingham, he gave his age as 22 yrs and 3 months, his address was 11 De Ligne Street, Radford, he was a joiner and his next of kin was his father Ernest of the same address. He was posted to the reserves and on 7th November 1916 mobilised for war. He was posted to the Royal Engineers and reported to the Chatham depot on 14th November 1916. He landed in France on 19th June 1917 and was killed in action on 6th September 1917 whilst serving with the 75th Company Royal Engineers, he is buried at Bleuet Farm Cemetery
