Family History

George Stevenson was born in 1898 at Radford, he was the son of Arthur a drayman and Annie Stevenson née Harper and the brother of Arthur, Esther, William, Harry, Annie and Elsie Stevenson. Arthur was born in 1872 and Annie Harper was born in 1869 they were both born in Radford, they were married in 1892 at Nottingham and went on to have 7 children. In 1911 the family lived at 49 Citadel Street Radford, Arthur was 39 yrs and a drayman, he is living with his wife Annie 42 yrs and their 7 children, George is 13 yrs and is a cycle painter.

Military History

Private George Stevenson enlisted at Nottingham, he was killed in action on 21st March 1918 whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact) Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
