Family History

He was the son of Charles and Elizabeth Peach. It was recorded on the 1911 census that his parents had been married for 15 years and had had four children of whom only two were still living, Bertie and Walter. In 1901 Charles and Elizabeth together with Bertie (6) and Walter (4) were living at Malt Mill Lane, Nottingham. However, by 1911 the family was living at 17 Brassey Street Radford Nottingham. Charles and Elizabeth had a boarder, James Wathes (24), a miner. Walter's father was variously employed as a stationary engine driver and a wood cutter on his own account (1911) while his mother seems to have worked at this stage in her married life, first as a hosiery mender and later as a charwoman (1911).
