John Morton

John Morton was born in 1897 in Nottingham and he was originally named John Travis Cullabine, He was adopted by Ernest Richard Morton a glass and sign writer and his wife Mary Ann Morton née Butler of 24 Garden Street, Radford, His adopted parents were Ernest Richard Morton born 1867 Attercliffe, Sheffield and Mary Ann Morton née Butler born 1863 Nottingham, they were married in 1889 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family were living at 12 Bramcote Place, Willoughby Street, Lenton and were shown as Ernest Richard Morton 44 yrs a glass and sign writer he is living with his wife Mary Ann 48 yrs and their adopted son John Travis Cullabine Morton 13 yrs a scholar. Ernest has stated on the census that he has been married for 21 yrs and have had no children. In the 1901 census the family are living at 20 Cathcart Street, St Ann's at this time John Cullabine is 3 yrs of age and is a boarder, also living at the address is William Cullabine 1 year of age also shown as a boarder. (his brother William died in 1911 at Nottingham.
