William Archibald Harrison was born in 1885 in Radford and was the son of William Henry Harrison a baker and confectioner and the late Agnes Elizabeth Harrison née Johnstone of 281 Alfreton Road, Nottingham. His father was born in 1855 in Radford and his mother Agnes Elizabeth Johnstone was born in 1854 in Radford, they were married in 1878 in Nottingham and had 3 children, sadly 1 died in infancy, their other surviving child was James Henry b1880 in Radford. His mother Agnes Elizabeth Harrison died in 1887 in Nottingham she was 34 yrs of age. In the 1911 census the family were living at 281-283 Alfreton Road Nottingham and are shown as William Henry 56 yrs a widow a baker and confectioner , he is living with his married son James Henry 31 yrs a baker and confectioner and his wife Annie 28 yrs (born 1883 Loughborough) and his other son William Archibald, single 26 yrs a butcher. William Archibald married Maria Elizabeth Soles in 1916 in Nottingham, they lived at 14 Boswell Street Radford Nottingham.
Private William Archibald Harrison enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2/7th battalion Lancashire Fusiliers he was killed in action on 10th January 1918 he was buried in Menin Road South Military Cemetery
Obituary published 19th January 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- HARRISON. – Killed in action, January 10th, 1918, Archie, the beloved husband of Marie Harrison (née Stanley). Until the day break. “HARRISON. – Killed in action, January 10th, 1918, W. A. Harrison, Lancashire Fusiliers, late of 281 Alfreton-road. Duty nobly done. – Father, brother, sister, Eric.” In memoriam published 10th January 1920 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “HARRISON. – In loving memory of W. A. Harrison (Archie) killed in action January 10th, 1918. - Father and family. “HARRISON. – In ever-loving memory of my dear husband W. A.
