George Doar was born in 1857 at Nottingham, he married Eliza Smalley in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration area they lived at 4 Denton Street Radford, Nottingham they had no children. In the 1911 census he and his wife are living at 1 Denton Street, Nottingham and are shown as George Doar 54 yrs a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Eliza Doar 50 yrs a cotton winder. He was buried on 19th December 1916 at the Nottingham General Cemetery.

Military History

Private George Doar enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Radford, he served with the 161st Company Royal Defence Corps. He died on 15th December 1916 at the Nottingham General Hospital of cerebal syphilis (pension card) and is buried in Nottingham General Cemetery.
