Father: Philip Wilson, born in 1846 at Sneinton, Nottingham and working as a tail. Mother: Elizabeth, born in 1864 in Leicestershire.Brothers:Albert, born in 1903 and Arthur, born in 1910. Sisters; Gertrude, born in 1886 and working as ateliers, Emily, born in 1888 and working as a pinafore machinist, Annie, born in 1895 and working as a blouse machinist and Violet, born in 1897 and working as a pinafore machinist. The family lived at 53 Brierley Street, Nottingham. At some point Philip Wilson jnr. moved to London and was living at 6 Barnsdale Road, Paddington. He married Gertrude Florence Wilson, nee Watling, at Paddington Register Office on 19/03/1914 and soon after they moved to Nottingham, and lived at 12 Osman Terrace, briar Street, Meadows, Nottingham.
Pte. Wilson attested on 02/12/1915 at Paddington, but was not mobilised until 01/05/1916 at West London. On 03/05/1915 he was posted to 15th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, but on 09/12/1916 he was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps. He arrived in France 13/02/1917, but was sent home to the University War Hospital, Southampton on 14/06/1917 suffering from enteric fever. He moved to a convalescent hospital on 16/07/1917 and remained their until 17/09/1917. He remained in England 17/09/1918, but then embarked at Leith for Russia the following day. He disembarked at Arkangel on 09/11/1918 and after some service he was embarked on the hospital ship "Kalyan" on 20/05/1919, suffering from tubercolosis of the right lung. He was brought home and taken to Bermondsey Military Hospital, Ladywell, London on 11/06.1919 and died there on 31/07/1919.
