Family History

Frederick Herbert Talbot was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of Herbert an electrical engineer and Charlotte Talbot née Palmer of Hawthornden, Private Road, Sherwood, Nottingham. Herbert was born in 1860 at Smethwick, Staffordshire Charlotte Palmer was born in 1864 at Clapham, they were married in 1889 at Marylebone, they went on to have 3 children, their other children were Violet Kathrine born 1891 Chelsea and Esmie Mary born 1896 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at Hawthornden, Private Road, Sherwood, Herbert is 51yrs and is an electrical engineer he is ling with his wife Charlotte 47 yrs and their children, Violet Kathrine 20 yrs and Emie Mary 15 yrs of age. In the same 1911 census Frederic Herbert is shown as being 17 yrs and a scholar, he is at Bedford Grammar school, he is single and 17 yrs of age.

Military History

Second Lieutenant Frederic Herbert Talbot served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he landed in France on 6th March 1915 and was commissioned on 4th November 1915, he was killed in action on 20th July 1916 aged 23 yrs, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
