Family History

Frederick was born in South Leverton in 1894 and was the son of Frederick and Ann Tacy and had three sisters. By the 1911 census he has moved out of the family home and is a servant, 17 years of age on a farm living with the farmer Robert Mellors on Torksey Street, Rampton

Military History

(20811) Royal Berkshire Regiment 10th Bn, transferred to (112508) Labour Corps. His army service record exists and from it we can state he was called up for service at Retford on 15th March 1916 and enlisted at Derby. At the time of his enlistment he stated his age was 22 years and 3 months, that he was a labourer and lived at Rampton,he gave his next of kin as his father Frederick who lived at Rampton. He served on the home front and competed his training until 13 July 1916 when he joined the British Expeditionary Force in France. He served in France until 7th May 1918 with his battalion but was returned home on 8th May 1918 where he was transferred to the Labour Corps. He died on 20th May 1918 from emphysemia and typhoid and was transported back to his family home . He had served for a total of 2 years and 67 days. He is buried in All Saints churchyard ,Rampton
