Thomas Edwin Stafford

Thomas Edwin Stafford was the son of John Stafford and Mary Wildgust who married in the Basford registration district in 1871. Their children included: Ernest (b.1872), Frederick (b.1873), Fanny Elizabeth (b.1876), John H. (b.1878), Mary Jane (b.1881), James Arthur (b.1885), Eliza Ann (b.1887) and Thomas Edwin (b.1889). The Stafford family lived at: 9 West Row, Bulwell, Nottingham [C.1881]; 55 Church Street, Whaley Thorns, Bolsover, Derbyshire [C.1891]; 12 Green Lane Mansfield [C.1901]; 7 Green Street, Mansfield [C.1911]. By 1911 only John and Mary, with the addition of a number of lodgers were living in the family home. What eventually happened to John Stafford, who worked as a coal miner, and Mary Stafford is unclear. At the time of the 1911 census Thomas Edwin Stafford, along with his sister, Eliza Ann, were residing with their widowed sister, Fanny Elizabeth Carter, at 13 Lime Street, Mansfield. In late 1911 Thomas Edwin married Hannah Fell at Mansfield. They had three children: Ernest (b.1912), Graham (b.1913) and Thomas Edwin (b.1915). All were born in the Mansfield area. The address given for Hannah Stafford in the CWGC records was 24 Wordsworth Road, Radford Boulevard. If his widow didn't remarry she probably died at Nottingham in 1966, at the age of 84.
