George (Edward) Ernest Rudd was born in 1898 the son of Philip William a leather dresser and Elizabeth Ann Rudd née Hopewell, of 34, Radcliffe St., Meadows, Nottingham. Phillip William was born in 1870 at Newcastle Upon Tyne, Elizabeth Annie Hopewell was born in 1869 at Sneinton, Nottingham, married on 29th May 1887 in The Meadows, Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, their children were, Phillip William b1888, Mabel b1893, Elizabeth Annie b1895 George Edward b1898 and Charles Thomas b1903 all were born in Bermondsey.
