Family History

Frank Reed was born in 1879 he was the son of Francis a butcher and Hannah Reed. Francis was born in 1851 in Somerset, Hannah was born in 1855 at Unstone, Frank married Jenny Graves (born 4th December 1887) in 1908 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they lived at the Cooperative farm West Field Lane, Mansfield, they had 2 children, Annie born 17th September 1908 and Ethel May born 28th February 1913. Commencing 12th May 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and five pence a week. After the war the family lived at 20 Burn's Street, Mansfield.

Military History

Private Frank Reed enlisted at Mansfield, he initially served with the service number 89433 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He died of wounds whilst a prisoner of war on 4th April 1918 and is buried at Soignies (Zinnik) Communal Cemetery
