James Pritchett was born in 1883 at Aslockton he was the son of William Harriss a market gardener and his first wife Mary Pritchett née Groves. William Harriss was born in 1860 at Whatton, Mary Groves was born in 1861 at Saxilby, she died in 1893 at Scarrington she was 32 yrs they were married on 12th June 1881 at the Weslyan Chapel at Grantham, they went on to have 5 children. His father re married in 1897 to Eliza Marson born 1862 Flintham, they a further 4 children. James married Leonora Green (born 4th July 1885) in 1917 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham registration district, they went on to have the following children, William Alfred born 15th April 1907, Sydney James born 24th November 1908, Henry Norman born 7th March 1911, Wilfred born 20th January 1914 and Nellie May born 8th April 1915. In 1911 his parents were living at Newton village, William Harriss is 50 yrs and a market gardener, he is living with his wife Eliza 49 yrs and 4 of their children. In 1911 James 28 yrs is living at Scarrington, with his wife Leonora 26 yrs and their children, Alfred 3 yrs, Sydney 2 yrs and Henry 1 month old. Commencing 11th February 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 31 shillings and 3 pence a week.
James Pritchett enlisted at Nottingham in January 1915 and served with the 66th Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action on 26th July 1917 and is buried in Coxyde Military Cemetery, Grave Reference 3.A.24
His brother 85266 Gunner Arthur Harold Pritchett served with 22nd Divisional Ammunition Column in Salonika and his brother R/20902 CQMS Henry Pritchett with the Army Service Corps.
