Family History

Joseph Pepper was born in 1894 the son of William a coal miner hewer and Charlotte Pepper née Wells and the brother of William, Thomas and Hannah Pepper. In 1911 they lived at 31 Mayfield Street Kirkby in Ashfield. William was born in 1854 at Pinxton, Charlotte Wells was born in 1861 at Kirkby in Ashfield, married on 25th May 1879 at Pinxton they went on to have 8 children.

Military History

Driver Joseph Pepper enlisted at Hucknall, he served with the Royal Filed Artillery and died on 18th May 1915 of pneumonia at the Connaught Hospital at Aldershot. He is buried at Kirkby-in-Ashfield(St Wilfrid) Churchyard Extension
