Joseph Jones was born in 1898 he was the son of George an engine fitter and Louisa Jones née Ashmore and the brother of Richard Dawson and Grace Emma Jones. George was born in 1853 at Blaby Leicestershire, Louisa Ashmore was born in 1867 at Nottingham, they were married in 1895 at Nottingham and went on to have 3 children. In 1911 they lived at 7 Notintone Place Sneinton Road Nottingham George is 58 yrs and an engine fitter, living with his wife Louisa 44 yrs and their 3 children.

Military History

Private Joseph Jones enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Sneinton, he initially served with the service number 63441 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby) Regiment. He was killed in action on 10th October 1918 whilst serving with the 6th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial
