Family History

Ralph Fillingham Crane was born in Mapperley the son of Oliver an engine stoker and Sarah Jane Crane née Slack and the brother of Norah, Charles and Harry Crane. Oliver was born in 1854 at Ipswich, Sarah Jane Slack was born in 1852 at Nottingham, they were married on 31st May 1869 at St Marys Church, Nottingham, they went on to have children. In 1911 the family lived at 47 Eaton Street , Mapperley, Nottingham.

Military History

Private Ralph Fillingham Crane enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Mapperley, he initially served with the service number 37692 in the North Staffordshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 16th October 1918 and is buried at Harlebeke New British Cemetery
