Family History

Joseph Verity was born in 1894 the son of Thomas Sutcliffe a coal miner hewer and Sarah Verity née Naylor and the brother of Albert, Robert, Leonard Tom Sutcliffe and John Verity of 32 Sherwood Rise, Nuncargate, Kirkby in Ashfield. Thomas Sutcliffe Verity was born in 1872 at Parkgate, Sarah Ann Naylor was born in 1871 at Darfield, Yorkshire, they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Rotherham registration district, they had 5 children. In 1911 the family lived at 28 Sherwood Rise Nuncargate Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Gunner Joseph Verity enlisted at Hucknall, he died of wounds on 14th June 1918 and is buried at Philosophe British Cemetery 4.D.7
