George Else was born in 1887 the son of George Nuttall Else an assistant overseer and his first wife the late Fanny Else née Walker of Willfield House, Matlock George Nutall Else was born in 1858 at Matlock, Fanny Walker was born in 1861 at Heeley, Yorkshire, she died in 1899 aged 38 yrs, they were married in 1884 at Ecclesall Bierlow registration district, Derbyshire, they had children George, Sarah Isabel, Kathleen Mary, Mabel and Elsie. In 1911 the family are living at Willfield House, Matlcock
Private George Else enlisted at Matlock, he was killed in action on 28th August 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vi-en-Artois Memorial
