Cyril Moore was born in 1897 the son of William a coal miner hewer and the late Elizabeth Moore née Turner and the brother of William, George, Nellie and Baden Moore of 26 York Street Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. William was born in 1862 and Elizabeth Turner was born in 1860 she died in 1911 aged 52 yrs both were born in Sutton in Ashfield, they were married in 1883 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they went on to have 9 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family are living at 26 York Street, Sutton in Ashfield, William 49 yrs a widow and a coal miner hewer is living with 5 of his children.

Military History

Rifleman Cyril Moore enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield, he died of wounds on 1st January 1916 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery
