Victor Charles James Eyre was born in 1899 at Dublin the son of Samuel a coal miner hewer and the late Charlottte Eyre née Reeve and the brother of Leslie Eyre and Arthur. Samuel was born in 1874, Charlotte Ann Reeve was born in 1872 both were born in Kirkby in Ashfield, Charlotte died in 1916 aged 45 yrs, married in 1898 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district. In 1911 they lived at 1 Bentinck Street Annesley Woodhouse Nottinghamshire Samuel is a coal miner and Victor is a scholar.

Military History

Private Victor Charles James Eyre enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Annesley Woodhouse, he was killed in action on 5th September 1918 and is buried in Lebucquiere Communal Cemetery Extension grave reference 3.D.29
