Thomas Parbutt (junior) was born in 1895 and was the son of Thomas Parbutt (senior) a coal miner hewer and Mary Jane Parbutt née Edwards of 18 Glen Street, Stoneyford Lane, Sutton in Ashfield. Thomas Parbutt (senior) was born in 1859 at Netherton, Worcestershire, Mary Jane Edwards was born in 1868 at Dudley, they were married on 19th July 1886 at Skegby and went on to have 8 children. In 1911 the family were living at 18 Glen Street, Stoneyford Lane Sutton in Ashfield, Thomas (senior) 52 yrs is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Mary Jane 43 yrs and 6 of their children including Thomas (junior) 16 yrs a coal miner ganger

Military History

Private Thomas Parbutt enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield, landing in France on 28th September 1915 he was killed in action on 27th April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial
