Boots 'Comrades in Khaki', May & June 1915, 'Letters from the Lads - Home thoughts from abroad': 'The life is quite different from mixing physic, & etc, and selling Regesan M. Powder, but I like it immensely. 2nd Lieut W Heslop.' (Nottinghamshire Archives, RB.38)Boots 'Comrades in Khaki', July 1915: 'Second Lieut. W Heslop was gazetted to a commission on 3rd December 1914, prior to which he had passed three years with Boots, principally on relief work in Manchester district, though towards the end of his service he was permanently stationed at the Darlington Branch. The 15th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry, to which Second-Lieut. Heslop is now attached, is at present in camp at Tring, but an early movement is thought to be probable in view of the efficient training the troops have by this time received.'
