Family History

Samuel Fowler was born in 1894 the son of Edward a bricklayers labourer and Elizabeth Ann Fowler née Hunt and the brother of Willie and Edith Fowler. In 1911 they lived at 4 Phoenix Street Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. Edward was born 1854 and Elizabeth Ann Hunt was born in 1862, both were born in Sutton in Ashfield. married in 1881 at Mansfield they had 7 children 1 sadly died in infancy or early childhood.

Military History

Private Samuel Fowelr enlisted at Sutton-in-Ashfield 19th January 1916. He served in Ireland during the rebellion before being drafted to France and was killed 26th September 1917, Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. Panel 99 to 102 and 162 to 162A.
