He was the son of Rosamond White (formerly Godson) and the brother of Jonathon Godson. In 1911 he lived at 30 Stoney Street Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. He was the husband of Nelly (née Ellis) Godson and the father of Doris M and George E Godson. Nelly married George Partridge in 1919 and they lived at 44 Dalesforth Street Sutton in Ashfield.
