Military History

Frederick Ashton was called up and following training he was drafted to France, joining 155th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. He was situated in the Ypres Salient whilst the Battle of the Somme raged, but was accidentally killed on 24/10/1916. He was buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery. (grave ref X.B.41A)
