Frederick Norman Johnson was born in 1898 he was the son of James Frederick an insurance clerk and Florence Kate Johnson née Farrow of "Penrith", Sandhurst Avenue, Mansfield. James was born in 1866 and Florence Kate Farrow was born in 1873 both were born in Nottingham, they were married on 14th September 1893 at St Matthews, Nottingham, they had two other children, Doris Edith b1897 Nottingham and Phyllis Marjorie born 1906 Nottingham. In 1911 the family lived at 'Kenmore' Rosemary Street, Mansfield, James Frederick 45 yrs is an insurance, clerk, he is living with his wife Florence Kate 38 yrs and their 3 children including Frederick Norman 12 yrs of age.

Military History

Private Frederick Norman Johnson enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Mansfield, he served with the 12th battalion East Surrey Regiment. He was killed in action on 26th March 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
