Family History

Hubert Trehearn George was born in Southwell and was the youngest son of Walter a head master and Harriett George née Blissett of 9 Elborow Street Rugby. His father Walter was born in 1853 at Worcester and his mother Harriett Blissett was born in 1855 also in Worcester, they were married in 1876 their marriage was recorded in the Martley registration district Worcester and they went on to have the following children, William Blissett b1877, Walter b1879, Nellie b1885 and Hubert Trehearn b 1898 all were born in Southwell. In the 1911 census the family are living at Park Street, Southwell and are shown as Walter George 58 yrs a headmaster at elementary school he is living with his wife Harriett 56 yrs and their son Hubert Trehearn 13 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Lance Corporal Hubert Trehearn George enlisted at Rugby and initially served with the service number 11642 in the Royal Fusiliers Regiment. Later transferring to the 8th battalion Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in action on 19th June 1918. He is buried in Valenciennes (St. Roch) Communal Cemetery, Nord, France (grave ref. lV.F.21).
