Before joining the Army he was under chauffeur for Col. Sir A E Bingham of Ranby House. He enlisted on Sept 1st 1914 and went with the 6th Lincolns to the Dardanelles and took part in a lot of hard fighting. He went from there to the Suez Canal and from thence to France about two years ago. He fought in the Battle of Thiepval.
