Family History

William Brown was born in 1898 the son of Thomas a farm labourer and Edingirl Brown née Cumberland of Shaw Street, Ruddington, Nottingham. Thomas was born in 1862 in Ruddington, Edingirl Cumberland in 1863 also at Ruddington. Married in 1884 they had thirteen children, nine surviving infancy - Edward b.1887, Adelaide b.1888, Mabel b1893, George b.1895,Catherine b.1897, William b.1898, Charles b.1900, Alice b.1904 and Jessie b.1906. In 1911 they lived on Shaw Street and later Co=op Yard, Church Street (both Ruddington). Edward was a road man, Adelaide a hosiery hand, Mabel a lace mender, George a farm labourer, Catherine worked in the lace trade. The other children were at school.
