Frank Lane was born in 1897 in Radford and was the son of Frank (senior) a sexton and Eliza Lane née Sims. of 9, Canning St, Derby Rd, Nottingham. His father Frank (senior) was born in 1874 in Radford, his mother Eliza Sims was born in 1873 also in Radford, they were married in 1896 in Nottingham and went on to have 3 children, Frank b1897 Radford, Albert Edmund b1900 Radford and William b1905 Bulwell. In the 1911 census the family are living at 40 Milton Street, Bulwell and are shown as Frank Lane 37 yrs a sexton in cemetery, he is living with his wife Eliza 38 yrs and their 3 children , Frank 14 yrs a plumbers apprentice, Albert Edmund 11 yrs a scholar and William 6 yrs.

Military History

Pte. Frank Lane, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, he died of wounds 14th December 1916. He is buried in Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte.
