Family History

Albert was the son of Henry a mineral water manufacturer and Emma Powell (née Stockwell). Henry and Emma had five children Charles, William Henry, Thomas Edwin Beatrice Mary and Albert Edgar. On the 1901 and 1911 Censuess the family was living at Clumber Street Mansfield. Albert married Sarah Elizabeth Collins in 1909 and in 1911 they lived at 79 West Hill Drive Mansfield. Sarah later lived at 'Holmside' Rufford Avenue Mansfield. Albert's effects of £2294 10 shillings and 8 pence were left to his widow Sarah Elizabeth Powell and William Collins schoolmaster (Probate 18/2/1919 Nottingham).

Military History

Albert enlisted at Mansfield and served with the 9th battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment. He was killed in action at Mormal Forest and is buried in Romeries Communal Cemetery Extension Nord France Grave Reference: VII B 2
