He was the son of William and Caroline Pick and the brother of Henry, Florence Annie and Cassie Pick. In 1901 they lived at 51 Garfield Road Old Radford Nottingham. He was the husband of Emily (née Swinburne) Pick and the father of Eric and George Pick. In 1911 they lived with Emily's family at 60 Walker Street Sneinton Nottingham (although Charles did not appear on the census). Emily later lived at 44 Crown Street Blue Bell Hill Nottingham.
Private Charles William Pick, enlisted on 19th July 1915 in Toronto, Canada and served with 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles. He arrived in England on 9th April 1916 and embarked for France on 8th June 1916. He was killed in action 31st December 1916, aged 30. He is buried in Louez Military Cemetery, Duisans.(grave ref lll.D.3)
In memoriam published 31st December 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “PICK. – In loving memory of Pte. C. W. Pick, 1st Canadian M.R., killed in France December 31st, 1916. Ever in our thoughts. – Wife and children. “PICK. – In loving memory of Pte. C. W. Pick, Canadian Mounted Rifles, killed in action December 31st, 1916. A day of remembrance sad to recall.
