Henry Wright known as Harry was born in 1889 at North Collingham and was the son of the late John Thomas Wright and Eliza Ann Wright néé Pesani of Queen St., North Collingham, Newark. His father John Thomas was born in 1859 and died in 1897 aged 38 yrs , his death was recorded in the Southwell Registration district, his mother was born in 1864 her birth was registered in the Newark Registration district, she has two children prior to her marriage to Henry Wright, James b1884 Claypole and Frederick Harold Brandon Pesani born 1886 Newark, they were married at St John the Baptist Church North Collingham on 24th January 1887, they went on to have Henry born 1889. The 1911 Census shows 21-year old Private Harry Wright with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters at Plympton St Mary (Crownhill) Barracks,

Military History

Lance Corporal Harry Wright served with the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (he was with the 2nd battalion at barracks in Devon on the 1911 census) He entered theatre of war (France) on 4 November 1914. At some point he was posted to the 9th Battalion. He died on 4 November 1918 of pneumonia exactly four years after arriving in France after spending time at one of the Rouen hospitals. He is buried in St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, Seint-Maritime, France
