Father: Jacob Tytherley, born in 1863 at Chard, Somerset and working as a lace twist hand. Mother: Mary Tytherley, born in 1862 Chard, Somerset. Brothers:Frederick born in 1891 in Nottingham and working as a lace machine minder and Ernest, born in 1897 in Nottingham. Sister: Florence, born in 1894 in Nottingham and working as a lace mender. The family lived at 11 Union Square, Sneinton, Nottingham before moving to 33 Kingston Street, Sneinton, Nottingham.

Military History

Attestation January 30th 1904. Age 18 years 10 months, height 5 foot four, weight 121lbs, grey eyes, brown hair Rank Private Regiment 2nd Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters Regimental No: 91333 Bangalore from 17.1.08 to 13.2.09. Spent 40 days in hospital with ‘glands excised’. August 1914 in Sheffield. Part of 18th Brigade in 6th Division. Moved on mobilisation to Cambridge11 September 1914: landed at St Nazaire 27 October 1915: transferred to 71st Brigade in same Division Wounded in action 27.2.1915. Date of death and cause: France (the Somme), 12.10.1916 died of wounds to both thighs. Total Military Service 12 years 254 days He is buried in Bernafay Wood British Cemetery, Montauban, Somme , France (in a double grave)
