Family History

Arthur William Peet Disney was born in 1887 at Keyworth and was the son Of Thomas a platelayer and the late Agnes Disney née Attewell of Barlow Cottage, Keyworth His father Thomas was born in 1852 at Keyworth, his mother Agnes Attewell was born in 1855 at Keyworth she died in 1907 aged 52 yrs, they were married in 1885 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham registration district. They went on to have the following children, Arthur b1887, Percy b1889, Constance b1891 and Oswald b1894 all were born in Keyworth. Arthur married his wife Henrietta May Hodgett (born 11th February 1881 ) in 1907 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham Registration district, they went on to have the following children, Ronald Frank born 6th March 1908, Barbara born 8th April 1911 and Marjorie Joyce born 9th November 1913, they lived at Main Street, Keyworth. In the 1911 census the family were living at Main Street, Keyworth and were shown as Arthur 24 yrs a furniture upholsterer he is living with his wife Henrietta May 30 yrs and their son Ronald Frank 3 years of age. In the same 1911 census his widowed father was living at Barlows Cottage, Keyworth and was shown as Thomas 59 yrs a platelayer, and a widow and his children Constance 20 yrs a hosiery machinist and Oswald 17 yrs a stained glass leader. Following Arthur's death his widow Henrietta was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 3 pence a week which commenced on 24th December 1917.

Military History

Private Arthur William Peet Disney enlisted at West Bridgford whilst residing at Keyworth, he initially served with the service number 50082 with the Army Cyclist Corps. He was killed in action on 7th June 1917 whilst serving with the 8th battalion Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium.
