Family History

Samuel Adlington Dove was born in 1893 at Mansfield Woodhouse the son of Samuel a cotton manufacturer and Mary Ellen Dove née Walton and the brother of William Walton, Beatrice and Albert Edward Dove. The family lived at 'Waverley House' Priestic Road Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. Samuel was born in 1865 Mary Ellen Walton was born in 1867 both were born in Sutton in Ashfield, married in 1887 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district, they had 6 children, sadly 2 died in infancy or early childhood.

Military History

Lance Corporal Samuel Adlington Dove, enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield whilst residing at Sherwood Rise, Sherwood, Nottingham, he was killed in action on 18th September 1918 and is buried at Vis-En- Artois British Cemetery.
