Ernest Dodd was born in 1882 at Nottingham, he married his wife Florence Bestwick in 1909 at Nottingham, they lived at 6 Ellen Terrace, Wilton Road, Nottingham. In the 1911 census he and his wife are living at 18 Mitchell Street, Nottingham, they are shown as Ernest Dodd 28 yrs a bricklayers labourer, he is living with his wife Florence 30 yrs a blouse machinist, they state they have been married for a year and have had no children. His wife Florence died in 1914 at Nottingham, she was 33 yrs old.

Military History

Lance Corporal 319 Ernest Dodd enlisted in Nottingham on 19th January 1904 , he was serving with the 1st battalion Northumberland Regiment when he was killed in action on 9th November 1914, he has no known grave , his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
