Born 1897 in Nottingham. Son of Joseph Henry Durose, a watchmaker, and his wife Elizabeth. The couple had three children but only Henry survived. In 1901 the family are living at 37, Blake Street, Nottingham. By 1911 they are living at Orient Villa, Standhill Road, Carlton and Henry is 13 and at school. The family moved to Eastholme, Standhill Road, Thorneywood Nottingham at some point before September 1916. His personal effects including photos and a wallet were sent to his mother after his death.
Enlisted in Nottingham September 1916 Henry expressed a preference to join the Royal Scots. He was initially Private 4524. Henry embarked for France 2 June 1917, arriving in Etaples on the 3rd. During January to April 1918 he was treated by the 20th Field Ambulance and then moved to Drouville for an injury to his left foot. He rejoined his battalion on 15th April 1918 but was 'killed in action' shortly after. He is buried in the Sandpits British Cemetery, Fouquereuil in the Pas de Calais region of France. he was eligible for the Victory and British medals
