Arthur Simpson

Arthur Simpson was born in 1896 at Radford and was the son of the late Edwin Simpson a corporation gas worker and Fanny Simpson née Cooper of 41 Kimbolton Avenue, Nottingham. His father Edwin was born in 1861 at Burton on the Wolds, Leicestershire, he died in 1913 aged 52 yrs, his mother Fanny Cooper was born in 1862 at Loughborough, Leicestershire, they were married in 1883 their marriage was recorded in the Derby registration district, they went on to have the following children, Elizabeth Maud b1887, Edwin b1888, Harold b1890, Arthur b1896 and George b1903, all were born in Radford. In the 1911 census the family are living at Edelwiss Villas, Greenfield Street, Dunkirk, Nottingham and are shown as Edwin 50 yrs a corporation gas worker, he is living with his wife Fanny 49 yrs and their children, Elizabeth Maud 23 yrs a blouse hand, Edwin 22 yrs a pipe moulder, Harold 19 yrs an iron moulder, Arthur 15 yrs a cycle turner and George 8 yrs a scholar. Arthur married his wife Beatrice Alice Riddell (born 11th May 1897) in 1917 at Nottingham, they lived at 49 Lambert Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham. Following his death his widow Beatrice was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 19th May 1919.
