Family History

William Dunstan Kemp was born in 1879 the son of Christopher a teacher and Eliza Kemp née Dunstan of 54 Airedale Ave, Chiswick. Christopher was born in 1851 at Merton, Devon, Eliza Dunstan was born in 1853 also at Merton,married on 22nd July 1877 at Tywardreath, Cornwall and went on to have the following children, Mary Tremayne b1878, William Dunstan b1879 and Hilda Annie b1886. William married Lillian Horne (born 18th January 1878 Sheffield) in 1902 at Sheffield they lived at North Drive Grove Avenue Chilwell Nottinghamshire they had the following children, Hilda Marion born 28th December 1902, Jack Dunstan born 21st July 1904, Christopher George born 8th November 1905 and William Tremayne born 6th February 1909. In 1911 William is not at the family address, he is a guest at the Speedwell Hotel, Newcastle, he is shown as being 33 yrs a guest and a commercial traveller His family are living at 10 Pavilion Terrace, Shepherds Bush, they are shown as Lillian 33 yrs she is living with her children, Hilda Marion 8 yrs a scholar, Jack Dunstan 6 yrs a scholar, Christopher George 5 yrs a scholar and William Tremayne 2 yrs of age. Commencing 25th November 1918 his widow Lillian was awarded a pension of 36 shillings and 10 pence a week.

Military History

Sergeant William Dunstan had seen service in the South African Campaign (Boer War) He was killed in action at Mercatel, Arras on 9th April 1917 and is buried at Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux, France.
