Edward Cox was born in 1890 he was the son of the late William a farmer and Sarah Ann Cox née Manson and the brother of John Cox (1888-1919) William was born in 1854 at Kinoulton he died in 1919 aged 65 yrs, Sarah Ann Manson was born in 1852 at Kinoulton, they were married in Kinoulton in 1884 they had 2 sons. In 1911 they lived at Stonehouse, Kinoulton William 57 yrs is a farmer, he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 59 yrs and their son Edward 21 yrs a farmers son assisting on his father farm.

Military History

Private Edward Cox enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number y 47356 with the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). He was killed in action on 9th April 1917 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Bay 3
