Family History

Samuel Jones married his wife Mary Hannah Spencer (born 29th July 1890 Bulwell ) in 1910 at Nottingham, they lived at 58 Hempshill Lane, Coventry Road, Bulwell, they went on to have a son Samuel born 1st January 1911. In the 1911 census the family are living at 10 Amanda Street, Bulwell and are shown as Samuel 23 yrs a pottery labourer, he is living with his wife Mary Hannah 20 yrs and their son Samuel 3 months of age. Also living at the address with the family are 3 of his wife sisters, May Spencer 18 yrs a gasser, Hannah Spencer 15 yrs a gleaner and Minnie Spencer 10 yrs a scholar. Following his death his widow Mary Hannah was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 22nd April 1918

Military History

Private Samuel Jones enlisted at Nottingham he initially served with the service number 49805 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was serving with the 190th Company, Labour Corps when he died of wounds on 18th October 1917, he is bured at Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium
