Lance Corporal William Henry Fenton enlisted at Lichfield, Staffs. whilst residing at Hucknall (sic) according to the SDGC register. He served with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and died of wounds on 3rd October 1918. He is buried at La Cateau Military Cemetery. France.
The only connection with Hucknall of this man would appear to be the SDGW register which gives his residence as Hucknall at his time of enlistment. However as he was born at Bucknall and lived his entire life in Bucknall the SDGW entry may be incorrect which would mean he should not have been included on this Hucknall memorial. His army service record does not appear to have survived.
