John Boyes was born in 1898 the son of William a coal banksman above ground and the late Agnes Boyers née Hutchinson and the brother William, Ruth, Margaret, Eliza and Agnes Boyers. They lived at 22 Mayfield Road Kirkby Nottinghamshire and his father later lived at 20 Bentinck Street, Hucknall William was born in 1858 at Gibralter, Agnes Hutchinson was born in 1866 at Hucknall she died in 1910 aged 44 yrs.
Private John Boyers enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Kirkby in Ashfield he served with the 7th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 8th October 1918 and is buried in Bois-de-Angles British Cemetery, Crevecoeur-sur-L'Escaut.France.
